Jody was born to Ervin and Carol (Steadman) Lockert on March 14, 1958 in Geneva, IL. The family moved to the Plateau Valley area of Colorado in 1962 and remained on the Western Slope until 1968, where most of her greatest childhood memories were formed. After briefly relocating back to Illinois, the family returned to Colorado where Jody graduated from Fruita High School in 1976.
Jody met Wayne Oster in 1976 and they were married on November 26, 1977 in Amarillo, TX. They later moved to Grand Junction, CO, where she was a homemaker and enjoyed serving as a waitress at several historical restaurants and as a dog groomer. Jody also worked in manufacturing at Ametek Dixon.
Jody loved the outdoors, four wheeling, taking long, scenic drives and looking for eagles, bears and other wildlife. She was fond of Longhorn and Western collectables and over the years amassed a collection of American Indian memorabilia. It was no secret that Jody enjoyed visiting Las Vegas, bowling, and listening to country music. She also had a soft spot for the neighborhood feral cats and compassionately cared for them.
Jody was preceded in death by her mother, Carol, and father, Ervin Lockert. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her loving husband of 44 years. Jody is also survived by her son, Ervin Oster and his spouse, Michelle; daughter, Joleen Oster; grandchildren, Kaitlinn, Bradin and Zayne Oster; and sisters, Cindy Whalen, Susan Ward and Terri Trimm.
Jody was a kind and compassionate person. She was a loving wife, mom, sister and aunt. She was taken too soon by a brief, unexpected illness and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
The family will hold a private memorial at a future date.
