John Francis Davis
September 12, 1921 - November 1, 2014
John Francis Davis was born September 12, 1921, in Molina, CO to John and Florence Davis.
John passed away on Saturday November 1, 2014. He was 93 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Martin, Lloyd ""Huck"", and George; sisters, Marie Davis, Mable Vinton and Gertrude Aspiasu, and his great-granddaughter, Kaylor Mock.
John is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Juanita Davis, and four children, Kerry (Debbie) Davis; Charles (Jaci) Davis; Janet (Kevin) Bennett, and Karen (Curt) McAtlin. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jessica and Nikki Bowey; Chelcy, Dustyn and Annie Petty, and Zach and Amanda Steele, and four great-grandchildren, Amari Jones, Rhiana and Riley Steele Mathis, and Anastasia Walker. John is also survived by his sister-in-law, Nadine Carrington and many loving nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Fruitavale High School in 1939, and attended Barnes School of Business. When WWII broke out, he enlisted in the Army, along with his two brothers, who also served.
John grew up during the Great Depression and that experience instilled an undeniable work ethic which made him a great provider for his family. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and lived his life with integrity and honesty.
John was a WWII Veteran, proudly serving with the 13th Armored Division. During his service he was a communication lineman behind enemy lines in Germany and France and told many stories of his harrowing experiences.
He was a huge sports enthusiast and an incredible athlete. He played baseball, basketball and he bowled. After retiring as a comptroller from Schmidt-Tiago Construction, he golfed with his buddies, until the age of 90, at Tiara Rado golf course, where he made several holes in one.
John had a great sense of humor and always left the last bite on his plate for his WWII buddy, Pete Pajulle. His advice for his wife, Juanita, was to leave the check book home when she went shopping!
John lived a long full life and will be greatly missed by all. Using his own words for good bye, ""Haily Salasy!""
God Speed John… We Love You!
