Kathy was born June 2, 1943 to Otis D Cross and Noda G (Strickland) Cross in Oklahoma City, OK.
Kathy was a very warm, friendly and optimistic person; she awoke every morning in a good mood. Everyone she met fell in love with her instantly. She was always more concerned about other people more than for herself, even during her illness. She loved all people, especially children and animals. She worshiped her children, grandchildren and her newest great grandson.
On June 12th, 1965 she married Richard C (Dick) Winters in Oklahoma City at the Village Methodist church.
Her career was mostly accounting and bookkeeping beginning in broadcast at channel 4 TV in Oklahoma City. That’s where she met her husband, Dick. They were at several radio and TV stations together in Fort Collins, CO, Colorado Springs, CO, Grand Junction, CO and Vernal, UT. She finished her career with Kay L. Jones and Assoc. in Grand Junction. Kay and Kathy had been friends for years and remained friends to the end. Many of Kathy’s clients also became friends and loved her.
Kathy and Dick enjoyed camping, fishing and sight seeing. They traveled by car, motorcycle and RV. She loved the military jets that frequently come and go over Grand Junction, (she referred to them as “her boys”) trains, animals of any kind, her yard and full moons, right up until the end. Kathy also had a great love of the Denver Broncos and all things Native American, collecting artwork and often visiting historical sites.
Mostly, she loved her family. She leaves behind her husband, Dick, one son, Thomas D Winters (wife Georgina) of Idaho Falls, ID, one daughter, Stacie D (Winters) Gray (husband Jim) of Vernal, UT, four grand children, Mikhail and Jacob Winters of Idaho Falls, ID, Alex and Jacie Gray of Vernal, UT, one great grand child, Nikolai Winters of Idaho Falls, ID, two sisters, Dianne Wallace (husband Larry, deceased) of Midwest City, OK and Peggy Isley (husband Ron) of Broken Arrow, OK as well as a host of cousins, nephews and nieces all of whom she dearly loved.
Kathy’s wish was to have her ashes spread in the Mountains of the Tetons in Wyoming. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Vernal, UT.
Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the St Labre’ Indian School in Ashland, MT.
