

Leo passed away at the Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins, Utah on February 12, 2017. Leo is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Donnie Sherwood, his three children Todd Sherwood, Sherrie Harpole and Robin Sherwood who have blessed him and Donnie with 8 grandchildren and 7 greatgrandchildren.
Leo was born in Haxtun, Colorado on June 3. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War (Company “K”, 23d Infantry Regiment, 2d Division). Leo traveled widely across the United States as a lineman and line construction contractor to help establish the electrical power systems we now enjoy. After retirement Leo and Donnie settled down in the beautiful Unaweep Canyon of Western Colorado with recent years spent wintering in Overton, Nevada. Leo enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities along with a deep interest in learning about history. Leo’s last few years were spent comfortably at the Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins, Utah where he was well cared for. Leo and his smile will be missed by his loving family and many friends. A Memorial Service for Leo will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado, 2830 Riverside Parkway (D Road), Grand Junction, Colorado on June 8, 2017 at 10:00 AM.
