Leslie Spomer left on a new journey on Sunday, August 28, 2016. Her daughters Lissa and Ketti saw her off knowing that their father, Richard, would be at the next stop. Her smile, kindness, and generosity will be missed, but the many wonderful memories shared by those who knew her will live on forever.
She spent most of her childhood in Montana and Nebraska milking cows and baling hay. In 1969 she met and married Richard Spomer and her life of adventure began. Over the course of 34 years, Richard and Leslie lived in six National Parks and seven states, finally settling in Grand Junction after Richard’s retirement in 2002.
Leslie is survived by her two daughters, her sister Paula and her brothers Dick and Bill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents Robert and Dorothy Hanson, and her brothers Mark and Joel Hanson. She will be joining many family members and beloved friends in her new home.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to the Crossroads Academy Preschool or the Roice Hurst Humane Society, both in Grand Junction, Colorado. Services will be held at Crossroads United Methodist Church on Thursday, September 1 at 10:30 am.
