

Letha Alice Hill was born in Logan County, Kansas to Lewis and Bessie Wright. She graduated from high school at Russell Springs in 1935. She taught a year in a rural school, and married Arthur “Cap” Capper Hill in Russell Springs, Kansas in 1937.
They moved to Parachute, then known as Grand Valley, Colorado, where Cap was employed at the oil shale plant. At the plant’s closing, they moved to Grand Junction where Cap worked at the V.A. Hospital.
They have attended the church of the Nazarene in Palisade, Colorado since 1946; serving the Lord in various positions. Alice’s last 16 years of teaching were with the adult Bible class which was a great challenge; a time of joy, friendships, and learning. Serving the Lord has been her priority since she was converted at age 26 at Winona, Kansas Free Methodist Church.
Alice was employed at the Regional Center for 22 years, retiring in 1980. She enjoyed gardening, canning and preserving foods, and lawn care. She enjoyed a number of hobbies such as crocheting, cloth painting, hand quilting, machine sewing, and making porcelain dolls and Crewel pictures.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Tillman Wright of Pueblo, CO, Harold Wright of Grand Junction, and Chester of Crawford, CO; sisters, Leo Hopper of Hotchkiss, CO, and Dellnora Cruse of Crawford, CO; and grandson, Dee Hill of Clifton, CO.
She is survived by sons, Dwane Hill of Grand Junction, Dwight Hill of Laneville, TX, and Dale Hill of Grand Junction; daughter, Lorraine Rush of Montrose, CO; eight grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary on Sunday, October 14, 2018, from 1-4PM. Funeral services will be at Palisade Nazarene Church on Monday, October 15, 2018, at 1PM with graveside to follow at the Palisade Cemetery.
