

May Weimer local resident and rancher’s wife died in Grand Junction.
Levonia May Curtis (May) was born in Mancos, CO to Edgar Curtis and Alice Violet Willden Curtis. Her father died before she was a year old and later her mother married Tom VanArsdale. She was known as May VanArsdale until she marriedCarrol Weimer on August 5, 1941.
The family moved many times during the Depression years so that Tom could find work to support his family. When May was in high school the family lived in Rico, CO where there was no high school. She lived with an aunt and went to school in Silverton. Her senior year was at the Catholic Academy in Canon City. After graduating she came to Nucla where her parents had moved. She found a job caring for an elderly gentleman and his wife.
Soon after that May met and married Carrol. They were lifelong loving partners. The Weimer family has a long history as farmers and ranchers in Nucla.
The couple had three children Carroll Ann, Zene and Jody. Both sons and their immediate families still live on and operate the ranch. Carroll Ann lives in Florida.
May is preceded in death by her husband, one brother Alfred E. Curtis and one sister Faye Haskell. May is survived by her children, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, two Sisters Marie Templeton and Betty White and one brother Tom VanArsdale.
Services will be held at the Nucla Congregational Church on December 13 at 10:00 am
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Carrol A. and L. May Weimer Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the Citizens State Bank in Naturita.
