Luciana comes from a village in San Rafael la Independencia, Guatemala. She was a daughter to Andres and Juana Pascual along with 4 other siblings. Growing up she would help her father work picking coffee beans and help her mother cook for her family.
At the age of 17, she was arranged to be married to Francisco Agustin. They had never met before but it was love at first sight and they would be legally wed on August 8th, 1983 then again ceremoniously on October 20th, 1983 in the Catholic Church. Soon after marriage, she would move to the United States to start her next chapter in life, motherhood.
She would give birth to 5 children, Susana, Juanita, Agustin, Andres, and Elizabeth.
She was caring, kind, gentle, generous, loving, playful, and a strong woman. As her family grew, Luciana would accept and love everyone she came into contact with. Every day she would love to provide for her family and others with a home-cooked meal from scratch while happily singing, laughing, and dancing in the kitchen. Serving her family was a priority and would emphasize making sure her children were loved.
With her loving hands, Luciana would take delight in working in her garden. You would find her outside with nature, nurturing her plants to grow big and beautiful as she was. Along with her love of nature, she would often go on walks. Taking in the beauty of the world around her and breathing in its fresh air. These walks would be shared with her husband, children, and grandchildren as a special moment to connect.
Luciana had a vibrant zest for life and it showed to others that surrounded her. She would always be laughing and smiling at a goofy commercial or a joke told by one of her grandchildren, always reciprocating the joke of course.
She loves her husband dearly and would always be his sidekick in adventures. From going on road trips to shopping trips to the mall, they were always together. Every day after work she would pull up a chair to the telephone and talk to her husband and exchange how their day was going so far. She would not go a day without speaking to him, laughing at each other's jokes, and light up life with her smile. When she was diagnosed with small cell cancer, her loving husband was always there with her to protect and love her. Their love is eternal and true.
The one word to describe this beautiful woman is LOVE. No matter who you are, she loves you as God would.
As she would often say “Don’t cry”, we must remember to celebrate the good times we had shared, leave regrets behind, and be happy. Let us all get lost in the beauty of life until we meet her again.
Luciana is survived by her husband, Francisco Agustin of Grand Junction; sons, Agustin Gomez and Andres Agustin, both of Grand Junction; daughters, Susana (Jeremiah) Sharkey of Delta, Juanita (Johnny Gossette) Gomez and Elizabeth (Josiah) Bohrer, both of Grand Junction; parents, Andres and Juana Pascual of Guatemala; brother, Pascual (Maria) Mateo of Guatemala; sisters, Teresa (Alonzo) Jimenez of Bakersfield, California, Catarina (Pedro), Angelina (Rene Perez) Pascual Mateo, and Clemencia (Moises Jimenez) Pascual Mateo, all of Guatemala; and six grandchildren.
