Survivors include two sons, Robert H. of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Donald H. of Colleyville, Texas; three daughters, Linda Romer Todd of Grand Junction, Barbara Duggan of Canyon, Texas, and Susan B. McGee of Montrose; one sister, Sarah McKeever of Holly; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Martha Romer
December 8, 1924 - August 6, 2015
Martha Winifred Hunter was born to Harry and Frances Hunter in Memphis, Tennessee. She attended Southwestern College in Memphis as an art major. In 1944, she married her fly-boy, James C. Romer, and moved to his home town, Holly, Colorado. Martha quickly adapted from being a Memphis debutante to life on the farm. They had six children.
Martha raised three registered breeds of hogs and was involved with CSU extension department in a study of pork genetics. She was the first woman to serve on the National Pork Association marketing board which created the window on the back of bacon packages. Martha was involved in the Republican Party since she registered to vote, served as a delegate to the National Republican Convention, was honored as Republican Woman of the year, served as an election judge in Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas, was a charter member of the Mesa County Cattlewomen's Association, and volunteered in many bingo halls to raise money for computers for schools.
Martha started her real estate career in Amarillo, Texas, and continued as a Realtor in Colorado for many years. She served on the MLS committee when the first printed MLS book was printed in Grand Junction. She was an intense bridge player and loved bowling and swimming. She enjoyed many cruises with various friends.
Martha, with her vast knowledge of water law and water needs of the future, was committed to the development of water storage projects on the Western Slope. She worked tirelessly passing petitions in support of the Dominguez Dam Project.
Martha is survived by sons, Robert Romer of Las Cruces, NM, and Donald Romer of Colleyville, TX; daughters, Barbara Duggan of Canyon, TX; Susan McGee of Montrose, CO, and Linda Romer Todd of Grand Junction, CO; sister, Sarah McKeever of Holly, CO; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-granddaughters.
Please join the family in a celebration of Martha's life on Monday, August 31, 2015, at 5:30 at daughter Linda's home, 685 Crestridge Dr., Grand Junction, CO.
