Mary Jeanselme passed away May 31, 2013 at Larchwood Inns, she was 99.
Mary was born on November 6, 1913 in Vail , Oregon from the union of Fred and Mary Tatum. Her parents were ranchers and later moved to Dickson, Wyoming to be closer to family. She graduated from Dickson High School and later moved to Colorado. Mary married Peter Jeanselme in Fortification, CO in 1936, he preceded her in death. Pete and Mary moved to Price, UT in 1936 to be closer to his family and then moved to Grand Junction, CO in 1968. Mary was a resident of Grand Junction for forty-five years and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, The Music Teachers National Association and the PEO.
Music was an intrical part of Mary’s life, she played organ for several churches and performed at many, many weddings and funerals, her student’s number in the hundreds. She enjoyed reading books and poetry. Gardening was a passion and at one time she developed and patented the Theodosia, Robin and Fred Iris varieties. She will be missed by her family, many friends and former students.
Mary leaves behind two sisters; Helen Morgan of Delta, CO and Patricia Allison of Cave Junction, OR and Shelly from Missouri who was like a daughter to Mary. She was preceded in death by four sisters; Myrna Adams, Frances Emerson, Katheryne Werlin, Margaret Conley and a brother Fred D. Tatum.
A memorial mass will be held at 6:00 PM, Thursday, June 13, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church
