Born in Franklin, Virginia, to Layton and Grace Wood, Alease met Kennith Bryant while he was in the US Navy, stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. They married August 15, 1953. Ken and Alease made Hereford, Texas, home where they raised four children. The family moved to Colorado in 1970, eventually making Fruita home. Ken preceded Alease in death on March 3, 2012. Her parents, seven of eight siblings, and three grandchildren also preceded her death.
She is survived by daughters, Belinda Knisley (Rowland) of Fruita, Patty Weaver and Kathi Pewters of Grand Junction; son, Keith Bryant (Kathleen) of Loma; sister, Jessie Breeden (Pete) of Charlottesville, Virginia; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews; and BFF, Ann Kauffman of Fruita.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who studied God’s Word, loved to camp, fish, sew, and cook. Alease enjoyed playing dominos with family, Mahjong with treasured friends, the companionship of her dogs, watching birds, and flowers. Alease was gracious and kind, and will be missed immensely.
A celebration of her life will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction, Colorado, at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017. Alease and Ken’s cremains will be together at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations accepted at HopeWest Hospice, 3090B N. 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
