Survivors include one daughter, Joan Brennan of Fruita; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

October 28, 1916 - July 8, 2015

The family of Nicholas John Keil mourn his passing on July 8, 2015, at HopeWest Hospice in Grand Junction, CO. We now celebrate his new life and resurrected body.

Nicholas ""Nick"" was born in Buffalo, New York on October 28, 1916, the youngest of three sisters who preceded him in death. Nick's youth was spent in Buffalo where he met his childhood sweetheart, Elizabeth ""Betty"" who became his beloved wife of 75 years. He worked for American Brass Corp. in Buffalo and served in the U.S. Army. The next journey was moving the family to California where he was a Painting and Decorating Contractor and a successful restauranteur. The last ten years he had the pleasure of being in beautiful Fruita, CO.

Nick ""Gramps"" loved being with family, enjoyed music and was a sports enthusiast. Favorite times were when he was reminiscing, we all loved listening to his stories. He was a quiet, sincere and caring man who loved the Lord.

Nicholas joins in Heaven his wife, Elizabeth Marie; daughter, Carol Ann Matthews, and grandaughter, Cindy Marie Wooten. He is survived by daughter, Joan Brennan, of Fruita; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Shelley) Melendrez of Grand Junction; Caren (Dave) Leach; Christi (Jim) Barrera; Ralph Matthews and Raymond Melendrez of California; sister-in-law, Peggy Chapin and brother-in-law, Paul Kielich of Buffalo. He was blessed with seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

We commemorate his life, his contributions and his accomplishments, but most of all his new place in Heaven. Nick and Betty are together again in God's arms.

A Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fruita, CO on October 24 at 11:00 a.m.
