Paul B. Evans
July 24, 1928 - January 4, 2014
Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Paul Benton Evans of Cedaredge passed away peacefully on January 4, 2014.
In addition to his wife, Alma (Stewart), of 44 years, Paul is survived by his sister, Wanda Stefanidis; his four children, Paul D. Evans (Sherry); Jon B. Evans (Barbara); LaVerne (Evans) Curry (Mark), and Lara Evans Bracciante (Anthony); ten grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sister, Vera Holmes, and a grandson, Paul David Evans, Jr.
A lover of the outdoors and animals, Paul was a longtime Grand Junction resident and owner of Clifton Auto Sales. He also worked for School District 51 for 13 years as an auto mechanic teacher. Prior to that, he owned and operated North Avenue Conoco and Lincoln Park Conoco, and began his career as an airplane mechanic for United Airlines for 13 years in San Francisco.
Paul spent his youth in Houston and Austin and joined the Merchant Marines in 1944, too young to be in the regular branches but determined to contribute to his country during its time of need.
Paul exemplified a life well lived.
A celebration of his life will be held January 10th at 2:00 p.m. at Stolte Appleshed, 315 SW 3rd Ave., Cedaredge.
