We grieve the passing of Robin (Chip) David Peckham, Jr. on March 14, 2025. Rob passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family and friends. He was 60 years old. He was joined in heaven the next day by his beloved cat, Sasha, who was by his side for 19 years. Rob was a lifetime Grand Junction resident who graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1982 and attended Mesa College, now Colorado Mesa University. He spent most of his working career at Haining Plumbing and Heating and retired after 25 years of service.
Rob was the loving son of Robin and Miriam Peckham, who predeceased him in 2010. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Young (married October 6, 2023,) and her daughters, Alison Young and Daniella (Derek Williams) Young. He is survived by his siblings who include Terry (Jeff) Kercheval of Aurora, Colorado, Cindy (Dusty) Bengford of Greeley, Colorado, and John Peckham of Breckenridge, Colorado. Rob is also survived by nieces and nephew Jamie Peckham LeVan (Emily, Lucy, Lincoln, and Piper,) Cody Bengford (Braxtynne, Bricent, Brodan,) Mary Bengford (Braydon, Layla,) Lauren Kercheval, and Katie Kercheval.
At the young age of 3, Rob was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. After 34 years of living with this disease, his kidneys began to fail. With a miraculous stroke of luck, Rob was blessed with a transplanted kidney and pancreas in January 2002. Thanks to his gracious donor, we were given 23 more years of life with him. Rob had many health challenges throughout his life, and to his credit he never complained or allowed them to define him. Rob was a devoted cat dad to several cats throughout his life. He relished boating at Lake Powell, enjoyed fast cars and occasionally raced his Camaro at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colorado. Rob loved spending time with family and friends, riding in his side-by-side, building cars, assembling model cars, riding motorcycles, shooting at the gun range, and fishing on the Grand Mesa.
While we miss having Rob here on earth, we take solace in knowing that he is no longer in debilitating pain and is reunited with his parents whom he loved so much! Please join us for a Celebration of Life and barbecue on Friday, May 30, 2025, Sherwood Park, 1301 E. Sherwood Drive, Grand Junction, Colorado from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
