Philip P. Bourassa Jr., age 70, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Sunday, February 26, at his home in Mesa, Colorado. He was born December 7, 1946, in Worcester, Massachusetts, to Philip Sr. and Jeannette (Jette) Bourassa.
Phil graduated Holy Name High School in 1964. While attending college at Colorado State University, he met and married the woman of his dreams, Janis Krohn. Phil enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1968 (assigned to the Army Security Agency) and served in Vietnam from 1969-1970. He and Janis returned home to Colorado following his honorable discharge.
Phil had a resounding passion for life...he could always be seen with a bounce in his step and a sparkle in his loving blue eyes. He enjoyed his family and friends; business endeavors and colleagues; stamp collecting; sports, including his favorites, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots; traveling with family and friends; but most of all, he loved his family and all of the wonderful memories he shared with each of them.
He is survived by his wife, Janis; a brother, John; two sisters, Rose (Spilman) and Diane (Charest); son, George; daughter, Tami (Rund); four grandchildren, Antonio, Shayna (Currington), Trevor, and Chloe (Rund); and great-grandchild, Avyanna (Currington).
Family, friends, and others whose lives Phil touched are invited to attend the Memorial Service on Monday, March 6, 2017, at 1:00 pm at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Rd. Military Honors and Internment will follow at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado at 3:00 pm sharp, followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Party in Palisade at 5:30 PM. Food and drinks will be served as we reminisce, share fond memories, and celebrate the life of a truly wonderful husband, father, friend, and most of all…a delightful, loving, and generous man.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks you make a donation to DAV (Disabled American Veterans) in his memory.
