his side. He was 35.
Richie was born Born March 30, 1982 in Lander, WY to Frank Collins and Linda Collins.
Survived his by his loving wife, Lora Cooper Collins; Father, Frank (Davene) Collins; Mother,
Linda Collins; Sister, Johanna Young; Rio, Cat; and countless in-laws, nieces and nephews,
aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who adored him and were considered family to both Richie
and Lora.
Although Richie wasn’t born in Colorado he arrived days later and his maxim was simple: “Not a
NATIVE…but got here as fast as I could!” Richie spent his life in Grand Junction, Colorado. He
graduated from Central High School, Class of 2000, and Mesa State College with a Bachelors in
Marketing and Communication. He was a lover of all things Colorado, especially the Denver
Broncos and the High Country.
Richie met his beautiful wife and best friend, Lora, and was married and sealed for time and
eternity in Idaho Falls, Idaho at the Latter-Day Saints Idaho Falls Temple on July 13, 2013. They
spent the next four years being nauseatingly adorable and only needing each other. They
enjoyed taking secluded camping trips to the High Country and long cruises on their quad. An
adventure for Richie and Lora was to simply spend every available minute together and sending
cat GIFs back and forth.
He loved the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in multiple capacities. He
gave freely of his time and talents. He was always willing to serve those in need. He found
solace in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and he is a true follower of Christ.
Those who knew Richie instantly loved him. He loved to sing, and write songs (and was great
at it), have bonfires, fish, and generally improved everyone's life through his charming
personality and wit. Richie had friends across all groups and never had a hard time making
friends or including others.
Richie had a joke a minute and hug for everyone, except for Raider fans, and even “those
people” he would tolerate. He was often the center of attention in a group, not because he
craved it, but because we were all captivated by his bigger than life personality. Whether you
saw him everyday or once every few years, he had a way of never letting a friendship grow
distant. He would recall the smallest memory, or send a random call or text, making sure you
knew he was thinking of you.
Richie's viewing will be held October 13th, at the LDS chapel on 2542 G Rd, Grand Junction,
CO 81505 from 6-8 pm. There will be a second viewing held before the funeral, at the same
location, on Saturday October 14th, from 9-10 am with the funeral starting right after at 10:30
am.
