Richard Robert Hunt

October 18, 1941 – August 16, 2023

Richard Robert Hunt of Grand Junction, CO peacefully passed away on August 16, 2023 surrounded by loved ones, after a difficult battle with COPD.

Richard, was born October 18, 1941 to Andrew and Helena (DeVecchis) Hunt in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. His mother relocated him and his brother, David, to Colorado in 1954, eventually settling in Grand Junction in 1955. Richard was proud to be part of the first graduating class of Central High School (1959).

In 1959 Richard met Donna Shepherd and later married on Jan 16, 1963. They were married 60 years. To that union were born two children, Dale and Tina.

Richard enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, watching the Broncos and spending time with family.

Richard Worked for Litton Moving and Storage as Office Manager for 37 years and later for Avis Car Rental until his final retirement in 2013.

Survivors include his wife Donna, his son Dale (Tami) Hunt and daughter Tina (Todd) Smith, four grandchildren; Lindsey (Justin) Sack, Aubry (Austin) Biesecker, Cory (Beth) Smith, Taryn (Mitchell) Schurman and six great-grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, beloved brother, David, and granddaughter, Brittney Hunt.

Services will be held on August 26, 11:00 a.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Road, Grand Junction.
