He married Josephine Bye in 1955 in Craig CO. They lived in Steamboat Springs CO for 12 years raising four children. In Steamboat he also joined a softball team as a pitcher. They then moved to Gypsum CO where the all the kids attended Eagle Valley Schools. They lived in Gypsum for 32 years. He served on the town council and for year he was mayor. After retirement in the late nineties they moved to Grand Junction. He liked meeting with his old friends at local breakfast joints to reminisce and socialize. He would frequent the Crossroads Fitness to sit in the hot tub and steam room with his buddies.
He was baptized into the Mormon Faith 1963 with Josephine’s Brother Ed Bye.
He liked to hunt deer and elk and camp with his family. He had a bright personality who loved to socialize and meet new people. He was always eager to get to know strangers/neighbors and their stories. He enjoyed and loved dog’s companionship throughout his life. He loved to sit in the Glenwood Vapor Caves and enjoyed hot tubbing. He loved to play and was excellent at playing the harmonica. All his grandchildren will remember hearing him play. He loved his grandchildren, especially when they were young and growing up. He was a great role model for hard work ethic, teaching all who were around him through example.
He was diagnosed with cancer in July 2017. He never suffered any pain from it however and we are so grateful for that. We had many more months with him than we thought we would. He passed very peacefully with family around him at home.
