I just went camping with Lee in Oct,2010 as we had done several times in the past few years. 4-wheeling in the Land Cruiser that was his life, his baby he created to his specs. He saved my life with his kindness,companionship, and understanding. Camping and wheeling in Moab, Utah or on the mesa in Co. seemed to be the fun outlet he needed along with someone to share it with. I am sadly dissapointed to have lost one of my greatest friends, but will cherish his awesomeness always. I Love You Buddy.

All the pictures you have posted bring back some good memories of Lee.  I knew him as a small child, he was so cute and sweet.  It is so very hard to lose a loved family member, especially when he is the only brother you had.  I am so very sorry you had to go through this heartbreak and sorry that such a vibrant and intelligent life was cut so short.

My thoughts, prayers, and love are with you at this time.  I will always remember Lee as that sweet little boy I knew so long ago.  My deepest condolences to the family who loved him.

I knew Lee for over 30 years and shared many of life's changes with him.   He was a brilliant guy who many times re-invented himself, but that did not eclipse his kindness and generosity.  There was always something to learn from him.  We took many wilderness adventures that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. He did more to explain and de-mystify complex technology for me than anyone I have ever known.  I was deeply saddened by his numerous struggles in his final days, and know he is now in a better place.

WE AT RJPC WERE VERY SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT LEE.  OUR HEARTS ARE WITH YOU DURING THIS TIME.  WE ENJOYED THE PHOTOS OF LEE, AND WILL THINK OF HIM OFTEN.

Lee was certainly one of a kind, I've never met anyone like him – intelligent, clever, skilled and often funnier than he knew. We had fun, had some good laughs and enjoyed good food and great music.

My first roommate at Holderness .. I did some crazy stuff with 'Diver Dan' .. was at Potsdam while he was at Clarkson .. we kept in touch at irregular intervals .. always seemed like we saw each other just yesterday .. let's take better care of each other from now on - that's what he's taught me. Wish I could be there to share the memorial with you.  He was a good friend. I will miss him.

We are so sorry about Lee's passing. It is difficult to lose a brother, and since you were separated by distance, you had to keep the bond alive. Lee would have appreciated all the times you reached out to show care for him. Your family is in our prayers, and we hope that this last time of memorial for him will bring forth some good memories and sustain you. Love you.

I was Lee's sister-in-law, he the "little" brother of Sam, who predeceased Lee by 9 years. 
I remember... a regular occurence in our early married years was Lee coming over to "drop an engine." This was the engine in whatever VW Beetle they had on the road at the time. There were lots of Beetles, and lots of dropped engines. Lucky for Sam, Lee knew exactly what he was doing, or our driveway would've been littered with the non-functioning engines. I remember trips to the Maine Woods with the whole Gibson/Gans family. One in particular had us all comfy at a lean-to at Russell Pond, waiting to make the assault up the Knife Edge of Mt. Katahdin the next morning. But that same afternoon Lee and Sam made an extra trip: they ran back down the mountain and to a store for supplies (cigarettes!) and made the climb back up to the lean-to just in time for dinner. One hiking trip Lee and Sam bought identical felt hiking hats at LL Bean, one red the other green. They thought they were hot stuff. But it was so windy up on the mountain they both had to tie down the hats like bonnets. They looked pretty funny. That's the way I remember the many escapades of Lee and Sam-- a little off the beaten track. Lee gave us the same Christmas present every year-- mixed tapes. But his sound system (always top notch) and his musical choices made these tapes so unique and wonderful. I still have a couple of the original cassettes he made. Lee at our wedding-- he was in it of course, and looked so sophisticated in a tux, he was the tallest by far of the groomsmen, and the youngest. 
Lee was smart as the dickens, way more sensitive than he let on, and always up for a road trip! More than once he showed up in Vermont in the middle of the night for a surprise visit. 
I lost touch with Lee after Sam and I went separate ways. I am so sad to learn of his passing. Life is so short, too short for many. Safe journey, Lee, I hope you meet up with Sam. Love Marcy

I am truly sorry to hear about Lee.  We knew each other through a mutual friend from our college days in Potsdam, and just recently were able to get back in touch. I will be thinking of him and his family in the coming days and months.  I am sorry that, since we so recently reconnected, I know very little about his life since Potsdam.  But the man I knew was a fun, intelligent, gentle soul, and I will miss him anew.

I was a classmate of Lee's at Holderness. Ever since graduation I have been trying to locate Lee. I wanted to badly to reconnect with him. So, needless to say, I was shocked to hear of his passing. I wish I had known he was in Colorado as my daughter lives in Dillon, and we will be heading out to see her at the end of this month. I am so sad to hear about Lee. I hope he had a good life. He was a good friend at Holderness.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.  I was a high school classmate of Lee's and I remember him as being kind towards everyone.
