Ronald Earl Polk was born on January 7, 1964, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Ronald E. Polk and Dorothy J. (Ford) Polk. Ron graduated from Grand Junction High School, attended Mesa College for one year, and then enlisted in the Army in 1983 where he worked as a mechanic and was able to travel to 13 European countries.
After the army he lived in Grand Junction, Colorado, where he worked as a painter and fabricated custom metal illuminated signs. Ron was very creative and loved working with his hands on many projects. He especially enjoyed metal fabrication and also loved to read and was rarely seen without a book in his hand. His favorite subject was history, and he was always able to recite historical facts that most people had long forgotten. He would often read encyclopedias and he was always able to retain what he read. He described himself as a person who had a passion for learning. Ron also loved fishing and especially loved fireworks, carnivals and theme parks.
Ron is survived by his mother, Dorothy J. Sanderson and Stepfather, Malcolm Sanderson, his sisters, Rayma Wagner (Washington), Vickie Polk and Lana Kaye Lee (Oregon) as well as nieces, Alicia McKenzie, Whitney Wagner, and nephews, Jared Wagner and Adam Polk. He was especially fond of his great nieces and nephews, Victoria Zeigler, Gavin Zeigler, Evelyn Estes, Michaela Gajdostik and Jaxon Pierson. He loved giving little gifts to the younger children and was always thinking of them and what he could do for them. Ron also had many aunts, uncles and cousins in Arkansas whom he cared a great deal for.
Ron was creative, adventurous and quiet, with a hunger for learning new things. He was much loved and will be deeply missed by his family.
