Sharon Lee Billings was born on February 11, 1953, in Grand Junction, Colorado, to Wallace and Barbara Mow, both of whom preceded her in death. She was the oldest of three siblings and is survived by her brothers, Bud and Wesley.
She earned her GED in 10th grade and spent her life as a homemaker. For 42 years, she was married to Jim F. Reid, the love of her life. She loved her children, stepchildren, and grandchildren as if they were all her own and wasn’t afraid to keep them in line when needed.
Sharon had a soft spot for animals, especially cats, and always had a few around. Her dogs—Teddy, Charlie, and Spunky—were treated like family and never missed a meal, often being fed before everyone else. She was known as an “indoor farmer” with a collection of knick-knacks that included a small herd of cows, pigs, and frogs scattered throughout her home.
She kept a large garden throughout the summer with delicious fresh veggies; she had a real green thumb. Sharon preferred patching clothes over buying new ones and was a lifelong Colorado Rockies fan. She always had popsicles on hand for the grandkids.
She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age two and wasn’t expected to live past 45, but she proved the doctors wrong by making it to 72. She wasn’t loud or showy, but she was present, dependable, and didn’t waste words. Her great-grandson summed it up best—when he visited, she paid attention.
Sharon will be remembered for years to come as a wonderful mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She will be missed.
