Shirlee was born in Huntsville, Arkansas, daughter of Creed and Grace (Snow) Hamilton. Her farming family later moved to Castleford, Idaho where Shirlee attended school, along with her brother Bobby and sister Blanche (brother Jerry came later).
During her life, Shirlee loved and married three men, Therman "Chuck" Bell, David Bradfield and the love of her life Robert Briley. Shirlee and Bob loved to travel spending time in Canada and the Oregon coast. They were avid sports fans and loved a good board game. They treasured their years together at "the ranch" and the family get togethers held there.
Shirlee held several jobs during her years from diggin' spuds as a child, florist to store manager for Lehrer's Flowers, an electronics technician, to a property manager. After losing Bob in 2007, she began creating beaded jewelry and started a business she was proud of, Creations by Shirlee.
Due to her warm smile, community involvement, hard work ethic, value of family and friendship and commitment to letter writing, Shilee made many lifelong friends to include Ann, Janice, Marleen, Viola, Jeri, Shirley, Donna and many others.
Shirlee and Bob's true legacy is the family they left to carry on this journey of life - their children Michael Bell (Delores), Linda Crutcher, Steven Briley (Vickie), Melody Keane (Scott), Russel Briley, David "Shawn" Bradfield (Marykay) and their 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Shirlee will be laid to rest at Veteran's Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado, Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Arrangements are by Martin Mortuary, Grand Junction, CO. A celebration of Shirlee's life will take place in the mountains of Colorado at a later date.
The family would like to thank the living angels at HopeWest and Larchwood Inns for their loving care. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to HopeWest by visiting www.hopewestco.org/index.php/the-greatest-need, or to your local hospice organization.
"As the light grows dim, think kindly of the memories we made. Forgive any hurt I've caused, any bitter words I spoke. Remember the things that made us laugh together. Hold close a book we shared, the letters we exchanged, the songs we sung, the games we played, the never to be forgotten poems we loved. Remember the strength and togetherness we shared. For I may die, but my love lives on through you."
