

Susan was born on August 3, 1948, in Taos, New Mexico to Jose & Sarah Velasquez. Susan was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She fought a long, hard battle with Scleroderma and Lupus but always kept a smile through the pain. Most recently she enjoyed spending time painting porcelain gnomes and has always enjoyed playing games on her iPad, listening to music, reading books and scrapbooking.
She is proceeded in death by her Father Jose Canuto Velasquez, mother Sara Amelia Cruz, and brothers Donald & Walter Velasquez.
Survived by her husband: Ayers Douglas Bowen; her sons - Joey Oliver, Raymond Oliver, and Carlos Maes; step-son - Daniel Bowen; daughter - Lori (Craig) Zoller and granddaughters: Julianna and Alexandra Zoller. She has 11 surviving siblings. Her brothers - Robert, Jerry and Vern Velasquez. Her sisters - Nancy Sullivan, Ida Avila, Emily Media, Geraldine (Pee-Wee) Velasquez, Teresa Velasquez, Jodene Flores, Jackie Velasquez, and Becky Barraza.
A visitation will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, Grand Junction, Colorado on Monday, December 13, 2021 from 6:00-7:00pm. A celebration of her life will be held in Leadville, Colorado in the summer of 2022.
