Terrence Patrick Toner, 67, beloved father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend to everyone he met, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, surrounded by family.
He filled his days with great blues and rock music, epic ski trips, harmonica tunes, and stories that could make anyone laugh. A lifelong harmonica player, he performed in bands around Grand Junction and could turn any gathering into a party with his high-energy music. Whether he was riding his BMW motorcycle through Colorado’s open roads or boasting about his kids and grandkids, he made life richer for everyone around him.
Terrence was immensely proud of his family’s Denver roots and the Toner legacy, including his grandparents’ well-known Duffy’s Tavern downtown and Toner’s Peanut Butter, which once lined grocery store shelves. His grandfather, Bernard Duffy, owner of Duffy’s Shamrock Tavern, helped revive Denver’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 1962, a tradition that continues to this day and reflects the same joyful Irish spirit Terrence carried throughout his life.
Fiercely Irish, he instilled that spirit in his kids and lived every day with laughter, loyalty, and love. He was a lot of people’s biggest supporter and the best listener.
Terrence is survived by his two children, Ashley (RJ) Montano and Duffy Toner, and his two grandchildren, Jett and Cash Montano. He is also survived by his brother, Todd Toner of Durango, and sister Tracie Stander of Littleton, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly. His loyal dog Nikkie was always by his side and shared in so many of his adventures.
He was preceded in death by his parents, JoAnne and Paul Toner Jr., and his brothers Paul Toner III and Timothy Toner.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Grand Junction, CO.
A celebration of Terrence’s life will be held in July 2026 near his birthday at the Ponderosa, where there will be music, laughter, and stories shared in his honor.
“May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
