Terry was born on May 2, 1948 in Stratton, CO to Ray Samuel Davis (deceased), and Harriett LaVone (Swan) (deceased). He was the oldest sibling, and is survived by his brothers David and Michael and sister Linda. Terry grew up in the Denver, CO area, but loved going down to Burlington CO in the summer to visit his Grandma Mollie and Grandpa King. He also loved the stories of his Grandpa Swan’s travels and his Grandma Dragoo’s bargain hunting.
Terry met Pamela Jo Taylor (survives) when he was 14 years old. The first night he met her, he told her “I am going to marry you someday”. She laughed, but 3 years later he made that dream a reality and they were married on January 14, 1966, in Westminster, CO. Pamela is the love of his life, and he has loved her eternally every moment for the rest of their 54 years together.
Pam and Terry spent their early years together on the Eastern Slope of CO, on their Kiowa Creek Game Bird & Fish Farm, raising fish, pigs and game birds. They moved to the Western Slope of CO for the last 40 years of their life. They have 3 children, (all survive) Bonnie Jean (lMaurice), Tana Jo (Eric), Lucas King (Kristina). They have been blessed with 6 natural grandchildren: Brandi (Ehren), Arianna (Daniel), Charli, Bailey, Bella, and Stetson. Pam and Terry always wanted a big family, and they love big! Life’s journey has brought them numerous beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, as well as bonus in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Terry was a loved father figure to many of them, as well as many others in their community. He also had many beloved pets, and was partial to Labrador Retrievers. His beloved Blonde Lab, Nikki was his forever faithful sidekick and watched over him everyday of his last years.
Terry joined his father and brothers in the family business as an electrician. However after getting hurt, he spent the rest of his life dealing with severe back pain as a result. It was his dream to do Taxidermy, and he made that dream a reality when he opened Big Horn Taxidermy. Being able to do taxidermy really showed off how artistic Terry was, and the excellence that dotted his existence. Even though it was tough on his body due to the pain, it was good for his soul, and he loved it!
Terry loved nature, especially the CO mountains. In the early 1980’s he and Pam , along with help from their family, built their unique log home by hand on a mountain in CO with an amazing view. He often thought of selling, so that he and his bride of 54 years could travel the world, but he never could quite bring himself to leave his mountain. He was able to spend his last days on this earth in the place that he chose to spend over half of his life.
Whenever Terry was up to it, you would find him fishing or hunting. Making his home on that mountain, afforded him the luxury of his favorite hobbies, as they could all be accessed within minutes. He did like to venture away from home though, and some of his favorite places was hunting on the Uncompahgre National Forest and fishing at Flaming Gorge Reservoir. He also loved the Oregon coast. He spent his last years living life to the fullest of his ability.
Even in pain, Terry still gave everything he had everyday of his life. He fought the good fight to the end. Terry always worked hard, and he played hard. The consequential illness’s that developed as a result of his injuries, would eventually cause his body to fail, but in the end Terry’s spirit was stronger than ever. Terry knew Jesus, and he and Pam were re-baptized together recently at their home church. He knew that because he had accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, he was headed to Heaven, and his family rejoices that he is now at peace, with Jesus, in his mansion and preparing for his family to arrive and join him one day.
John 14:2
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
1st Timothy 6:12
Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
Psalm 23
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”
