

Virgil Eugene Boggess, of Whitewater, Colorado, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was 64. His wisdom and infectious sense of humor will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
He was born on July 23, 1951 to Ernest and Velva Boggess in Hardin, Montana. He spent his childhood there and graduated from Hardin High School. Virgil went on to get an Associate’s Degree from Western Technical College in Denver, Colorado. He was a resident of the Grand Valley for 37 years.
Virgil was once married to Claudia Mead but later went on to marry Debra D. Boggess on June 7, 1997 in Grand Junction, Colorado.
He was the founder/owner of Atlasta Solar Center for 33 years, a company that has had a large impact on the Grand Valley. Virgil was a member of the Colorado Solar Energy Industries Association and received the Lifetime Achievement Award on February 9, 2012. He was also an organ and tissue donor.
Virgil was all about working hard and playing hard. He was known for his many anecdotes but was most often heard to say,” Are those your sister’s pants?”
He is survived by his wife, Debra D. Boggess, Whitewater, Colorado; sons, Brady (Brandy) Boggess, Chad Geery (Tara Curry), and Colin (Janalynn) Geery, all of Grand Junction, Colorado; daughters, Justine (Chad) McNulty, Goodyear, Arizona, and Addie (Zach) Rausch, Queen Creek, Arizona; a brother, Ernest E. Boggess, Jr., Billings, Montana; and two sisters, Elizabeth (Jim) Roan, Billings, Montana, and Starla Boggess, Durango, Colorado; and nine grandchildren. Virgil is preceded in death by his parents and his twin brothers, Terry and Jerry Boggess.
A visitation will be held at Martin Mortuary on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 1- 2pm. His funeral service will begin at 2pm with a reception to follow. Virgil loved the ocean so the family invites anyone coming to the service to dress in Hawaiian shirts or other beach wear. Services will also be held at the Bullis Mortuary in Hardin, Montana on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 11am. A graveside service will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Hardin.
In lieu of flowers, Virgil’s family has asked that any donations be made in his name to Homeward Bound, the Salvation Army, or the Partner’s Program.
