April 23, 1947 – March 5, 2026
Virginia V. Ball, 78, of Grand Junction, CO, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, with her family around her, at HopeWest of Grand Junction. Virginia was born April 23, 1947, in Fort Dodge Iowa, to Ernest Klement and Virginia Vivian Carpenter. Virginia became part of the Carpenter family when her mother married Joseph Carpenter in 1963. Virginia spent her time growing up in Fort Dodge Iowa before moving to Sacramento, CA, where she attended Norte Del Rio High School. Virginia was a homemaker before she started her career as an administrator, followed by time spent as a legal secretary for the District Attorney’s Office in California. She finished her career by retiring from the Bureau of Land Management in Grand Junction, Colorado working in the oil and gas department for two decades.
Virginia married John R. Ball, her sweetheart since 1963, and together they shared a lifetime of love and memories. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, John Thomas Ball (Grand Junction, CO), Jody Sours (Chris) of Grand Junction, CO, and Janna Pierce (Scott) of Evans, CO; her sisters, Sheila Kelley, April Carpenter and Sharla Carpenter; her grandchildren, Jenn, Jess, and Sarah (Santos); and her eight great-grandchildren, Emma, Ella, Eva, Effi, Nixon, Ezra, Jayden, and Jett. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces that loved her deeply.
Virginia’s greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She looked forward to every celebration that would bring her family together. Her favorite hobbies included reading, sewing, crafts, gardening, diamond paintings and square dancing. Virginia spent many years building the family tree in Ancestry. She wanted the family to have the history and knowledge of where it all began. Lots of great conversations came from her finds in that family tree. She also enjoyed attending the services at the Methodist Church, where she found comfort in worship, prayer and fellowship.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Carpenter and Virginia Carpenter, sister Leanne Mulich, brother Ernest (Skip) Klement, brother-in-law Jack Kelley and husband John R. Ball.
A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at a later date. Her love and devotion to family and friends as well as her generous, intelligent and funny spirit, will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed
