Wilma R Jones

Wilma was born in Grand Junction on February 5, 1940, to William R. and Winifred Rose (Kruckenberg) Payne. She grew up in Grand Junction and graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1958. Wilma married William E. Jones on August 8, 1958, in Grand Junction, where she was a lifelong resident except for some time spent in Arizona.

Wilma worked as a nurse in the medical field and attended the Assembly of God church. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, trying new recipes, fishing, and traveling.

Wilma is survived by her loving husband, William E. Jones of Grand Junction; daughters, Debbie D. (Charlie) Shoemaker of Phoenix, Arizona, Lisa D. (Mark) Vollrath of Fruita, and Kristie D. (Mark) Ross of Grand Junction; her brother, William Russell Payne of Grand Junction; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William R. and Winifred R. Payne; and one granddaughter, Abby Crespin.

No services are planned. Private burial will take place at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado. Memorial contributions may be made in Wilma’s name to HopeWest Hospice at www.hopewestco.org.
