

He was born on January 23, 1923, in Melvin, Texas. On April 28, 1945, Alfonso married the love of his life, Olivia Martinez Saldivar. They shared 36 beautiful years of marriage until her passing.
Alfonso dedicated 25 years of service in maintenance with the Grand Prairie Independent School District, where he was known for his strong work ethic and quiet strength.
A devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Alfonso was also active in the Guadalupanos, a church group dear to his heart.
He found joy in walking several miles each day, staying active well into his later years, and playing the guitar, which brought comfort to those around him.
Alfonso will be remembered for his enduring faith, love for his family, and the peaceful way he lived his long and meaningful life
Alfonso is survived by his children Alfonso Jr. Saldivar, George and Olivia Saldivar, Ida Saldivar, Ricky and Francis Saldivar, Abel and Eva Saldivar, Bertha and Gerardo Villegas; as well as 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Alfonso is preceded in death by his wife Olivia Martinez Saldivar; siblings Teodora Martinez, Gregorio Saldivar, Miguel Saldivar, Salvador Martinez, Porfidio Saldivar, Benito Saldivar, Tranquilino Saldivar, and Juana Saldivar.
A visitation for Alfonso will be held Monday, June 9, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. A prayer service will take place from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 610 NE 17th Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. Committal service will follow at 11:30 AM at Southland Memorial Park, 1100 SW 3rd Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75051.
