Alice Odom

Mary Alice Smirl Odom of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away Monday, November 28, 2011 in Flower Mound, Texas. She was born February 15, 1928 in Addison, Texas to Walter and Mary Hellams Smirl. She was a loving and faithful sister, wife and mother, dedicated to serving her family and her church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hughel Odom and her granddaughter, Rachel Fuller, and brothers Richard, John, and Edward Smirl. She is survived by her sister, Martha Smirl Cooper of Grand Prairie, TX and her children Debbie Cox (Eddie) of Richmond, VA, Keith Odom (Elizabeth) of Grand Prairie, TX, Cindy Fuller (Charlie) of Little Rock, AR, and Janet Nelson (Mike) of Coppell, TX, and her grandchildren Jennifer Carreiro (B.J.) of Denver, CO, Jeremy Cox (Catherine) of Austin, TX, Becky Fuller (Jonathan Gitlin) of Dallas, TX, Sarah Phillips (Austin) of Seattle, WA, Sean Nelson and Alex Nelson of Coppell, TX. She is also survived by great-grandsons Will Carreiro of Denver, CO and Eli Cox of Austin, TX. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 1 at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home 733 Dalworth St. Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, December 2 at First Baptist Church, Grand Prairie with Dr. Jerry Poteet officiating. Memorials may be made to the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor, First Baptist Church Grand Prairie Food Pantry and/or Faith Presbyterian Hospice.
