November 26, 1946 through June 27, 2025
Allen was born in Winfield, Kansas to Lawrence Andrew (Peewee) Widener and Florence Marie Holt. He had two brothers. An older brother Roy Andrew Widener and a younger brother George Earl Widener.
Allen married Vickie Cheryel Lee on April 11, 1964. They had one daughter, Brenda Lee Widener England born November 21, 1964.
Allen went to work for Ling Tempco Vought (LTV) an aerospace and defense company in 1963 at the age of 18 years old. LTV became Northrop Grumman and eventually Triumph Aerospace. He retired at the age of 55 years old after a long and successful career. While Allen was not in the military, he served our country proudly everyday through his work in the defense industry ensuring that our service men and women had the best possible equipment available to keep them safe.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents Peewee and Florence and his beloved wife Vickie. Allen and Vickie were never apart during their married years. Only ever kept apart by hospital stays and illnesses.
Allen leaves behind his two brothers Roy and George, his daughter Brenda and son-in-law Tom England and grandchildren Erin England Carbajal, Ashley and David Goodenough, and Nicholas Filkins. And the youngest family member Laurel Lee Carbajal his great granddaughter. Laurel visited him often in the nursing home during his last years, sitting on the bed with her Pawpaw and sharing snacks. They both shared a love of sweet snacks.
We will miss dad’s wit and sense of humor. He could often be found playing pranks on the family such as hiding fake bugs for the kids to find in strange places or telling funny dad jokes. He could ALWAYS be found with a paperback book in his hand or a can of Copenhagen or cup of coffee.
A visitation for Allen will be held Monday, July 7th from 6-8 pm at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. The funeral service will be at Grand Prairie Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 8th at 10 am. Burial with a brief graveside service will be at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens at approximately 11:30 am.
