

Ava Eudene (Dean) Brahm, age 95, of Grand Prairie, Texas, departed this life on Monday, September 27, 2021. Dean was born on Monday, March 1, 1926 in Pike, Collin County, Texas to James Clarence Sartin and Wilma Estell (Stella) Cash Sartin. She grew up on a farm in Collin County and graduated from Leonard High School in 1943. As a young woman during World War II Dean went to work for Western Union, traveling to various assignments in Texas and Kansas. She married Doyle Thompson on August 29, 1945 at Snow Hill in Collin County. They moved to Grand Prairie, Texas in 1950 where they raised their two sons. Dean eventually went to work for Sears on Lamar Street in Dallas as a keypunch operator. She retired from Sears in 1986.
Dean loved to travel and had many great adventures including trips to Israel, Germany, Austria, Ireland, England, Canada, Mexico, several Caribbean Islands, and most of the United States. She was a great cook and could make the best peanut patties you ever tasted!
Dean was preceded in death by her parents; four husbands: Doyle Thompson, Mack Doyle Godbey, George Raymond Davis, and John Louis Brahm; her sister, Norma Jean Crutcher; her brothers Kenneth Burl Sartin, James Dyral Sartin, and Max Weldon Sartin. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law James and Donna Thompson and Tommy and Lynda Thompson; grandson James Bradley (Lisa) Thompson; granddaughters Rebecca Jean (Kelly) Van Buren, Teri Lynn (Jim Ball) Walker, and Traci Lee (Joe) Charles; six great grandchildren: Hannah, Jennifer, Lincoln, Jessica, Jake, and Case; and sister-in-law Shirley Sartin.
A private celebration of Dean’s life will be held at a later date with interment following at Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Texas Food Bank, Willow Wild Cemetery Association, or a charity of your choice.
