

Benjamin Tatay Ben, Lolo Jamin” Gentleman Resus Caturay, Sr., 92, passed peacefully September 19, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Naic, Cavite, Philippines April 26, 1921 to Lorenza Resus and Pedro Sr. He lived in Manila, and was the proprietor of a fishing company,served and distributed the freshest seafood to hotels, restaurants, hospitals, grocery stores, and various businesses throughout the Philippines. In 1984 he decided to move to the United States in pursuit of the “American” dream. “Tatay Ben” immigrated to the USA in April and lived and worked in San Francisco, CA, using his food industry knowledge, working with Denny’s for 10 years until he retired as a lead busboy. He was hard working, dependable, and loyal. He became a United States Citizen in 1989; “one of his proudest moments.” He was a parishioner at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in San Francisco,where he spent Sundays worshiping with family and friends. He devoted many hours volunteering at the Senior Food Bank Ministry, was an avid reader of current events and sports, including the San Fransisco 49ers and SF Giants. His passion was cooking; especially preparing meals for family and friends. He is preceded in death by his first wife Lilia Gacus, his children Benifrido, Warlito, Theresita, Leonilo, and Geraldine, siblings Alberto, Lourdes, and Antero,loved ones Josefina, Vicky Caturay. Survivors; wife Cerenia Ponce, children Clearlita, Benjamin Jr., Lailane, and Romy, siblings Pedro Jr., Esteban, Gregorio, Gloria (basallo), loved ones Zenaida Caturay, Rene Archevarra, Ronaldo Sumabat, Epifania Caturay, Karen Caturay, and Janice Caturay, 17 grandkids and 23 great grandkids. He was known for his sense of humor and unconditional love. Celebration of life will be at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 6pm. His ashes will be sent to San Francisco, where a memorial will be held at a later date.
