

Betty L Varas of Grand Prairie was born December 19, 1937 in Fort Worth, TX. She went to be with her Lord July 8, 2014 in Arlington, TX after a long battle with lung cancer. She was a special minister at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church as well as St. Michael the Archangel Church both in Grand Prairie. There is no doubt that Betty loved the Lord she was a follower and believer in Christ. She’s always been so involved; she was a contributor to the original Cook Book of St. Michaels Catholic Church, a member of the Finance Committee; a part of the Kindred Health Better Breathers Club of Arlington, the list could go on and on. Her family and friends will remember how special her visits with the woman of the parish were to her. Betty loved spending time with her friends, playing her favorite games, Bunko and Farkle. But something she loved more was her family. Family was so significant in her life. Betty had a passion for traveling as well, she loved going to Ecuador and Mexico with her husband Jaime as much as they could. Betty was a fighter; she battled cancer for a very long time, until she was no longer able to. She will be missed greatly. Betty is preceded in death by: parents, Harry and Loraine Smith; brother, Harry B. Smith; sister, Cathy Showman; and grandson, Cody Hocevar. Those left to cherish her memory: husband, Jaime Varas; daughter, Christie Reynolds and husband Mark and her children Mark and Brian; daughter, Carla Robbins and her children Richard “Dusty” and Crystal; daughter, Dayn Dauser and husband Michael and her son Brandon; daughter, Fanette Landry and her children Robin, Scott, and Ashley; great grandchildren, Noah, Mackinzie, and Blake. Family will receive friends Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home from 6-8 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11 am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, burial to follow at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens.
