Bobbie was a lifelong Grand Prairie resident. She graduated from Grand Prairie High School, a proud Gopher, in 1961. After high school she obtained her Associates Degree and LVN license. While working as the director of nurses in a nursing home in 1977 she met James “Jim” Melson. He would bring pies for the tenants and his generosity sparked a friendship between them as turned to true love. The two were married November 9, 1991.
Bobbie was a loving wife and mother and was as sweet as she was giving. While her children were little she would sew their clothes. She loved to scrapbook, knit items for her grandchildren and take them shopping. Bobbie was the peacemaker of the family and the glue that held them together. Every summer she and Jim would take the grandchildren on vacations, and during the school year she would spend time with them every other weekend.
Bobbie would watch Walker Texas Ranger and enjoyed playing Yahtzee. The last Christmas gift she gave her grandchildren was in fact, Yahtzee. She adored her grandchildren so much she took computer classes at the senior center to learn how to use Facebook. Once she mastered it, she would tag herself in all their pictures so she could have them on her page also. Bobbie spent her life taking care of those around her through love and caring. She will dearly missed but never forgotten.
Bobbie is preceded in death by her mother Bobbie Martin; father Charlie Thomas Martin; brother Phillip Dwayne Martin and son Billy Bob Doherty.
She is survived by her husband Jim A. Melson; children Rhonda Farris and her husband Leonard Farris, Amy Wilson, Cassie Johnson, Jimmy Melson; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brother Charlie Martin, sister-in-love Sandy Parr, brother-in-love Jack Melson and many cousins, nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
