

Charles Lue Crouch of Grand Prairie passed away peacefully at home February 16, 2017 at age 84. Charles was born in Dallas, Texas, July 24, 1932, to Lou Allen Crouch and Greta Millar Crouch, both who grew up in Grand Prairie. The family returned to GP in 1944 when they purchased Sunnyvale Farm on the north side of town. For several years the Crouch family operated the Sunnyvale Camp throughout summer months and during that time, Charles had his first business venture of operating the Camp’s Coca Cola stand selling soft drinks to the campers.
Charles was a member of Future Farmers of America (FFA) raising and showing cows at the State Fair of Texas yearly. He graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1949, attended Arlington State College, Texas A&M and entered the U.S. Army in 1952. During his two years in the Army working as a Linesman, he spent over a year in Korea during the Korean War. Upon returning home from duty, Charles attended SMU earning his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1958.
In 1956, Charles married the love of his life, Moira Lee Florentin, who also grew up in Grand Prairie and is a 1955 graduate of Grand Prairie High School. Charles & Moira met through attending the same Presbyterian church. The couple made their first home together at Avion Village in Grand Prairie and later became parents of two fabulous children.
Charles was a self-employed Civil Engineer and operated businesses for many years in Arlington, Dallas and Grand Prairie. He worked as a home builder for several years and provided land planning and development throughout DFW for over 50 years. He retired from business in 2012.
Charles was an active member of the Grand Prairie Rotary Club for many years and was very active in the Greater Dallas Rotary Chorus serving several years as Treasurer and later as President. He traveled and performed abroad with the Chorus, including trips to London and Australia. He was also very active in his Church serving as both Deacon and Elder during his life long membership at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Grand Prairie. He was an avid enthusiast of Ford Motor Company vintage vehicles and in 1990 was granted lifetime membership honors in the North Texas Mustang Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Dorothy Crouch Brown, and his brother Allen Millar Crouch. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years; daughter, Phyllis Crouch; son, Clifford Crouch and daughter-in-law, Julie Crouch; granddaughter, Nichole Crouch and grandson, Clayton Crouch.
