

Charlotte Bernice Hammonds, a resident of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away on Sunday, December 28th, 2025, at the age of 77. Charlotte was born on October 29, 1948, in Vernon, Texas to John Ellis and Frankie (Skipworth) Ellis. She had two older siblings, Joe Ray and David, and a younger sister, Debbie (Ellis) Hill.
Charlotte met the love of her life, Gary David Hammonds, at the age of 17 and married on October 21, 1966. After moving from Vernon, Charlotte and Gary David settled in Grand Prairie, where they lived for over 50 years. Together, they had two sons, Mark David and Gus Dean. Charlotte attended cosmetology school, owned a pool cleaning company, and worked for the Grand Prairie newspaper, as well as LTV Lockheed Martin. She enjoyed exploring hobbies such as baking, gardening, and sewing, and took pride in being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Charlotte was predeceased by her two older siblings, her loving husband, Gary David, on April 30th, 2024, and her eldest son, Mark, on July 4th, 2025. She is survived by her son, Gus, and his wife, Krystal; her grandchildren, Aubrey, Austin, Elissa, David, Jonah, Colton, and Kyden; and her great-grandchildren, Chloe and Liam.
A visitation for Charlotte will be held Tuesday, January 13th, 2026 at 11:00am at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S. Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052, with a service to follow at 12:00pm. Graveside interment proceedings will begin at 1:15pm at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
