Clayton Monroe Roop born in Irving, TX on August 29, 1997 passed unexpectedly on Sept 29, 2020.

From the moment he came into the world he has spread joy to everyone that he met. Clayton graduated from South Grand Prairie High School in May of 2016 where he played baseball. He continued his education while playing baseball at Frank Phillips Junior College. After college he began working at Amazon and was starting on his path for the rest of his life.

Clayton was very caring, competitive, but most of all hard working. There wasn’t a person that he met that didn’t come away from that meeting being his friend. He loved to laugh and when you were with him you couldn’t help but laugh with him. Clayton’s heart was as big as the world and he was always willing to help anyone at anytime. He loved to play golf, hunt and fish but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Clayton was born in the city but was a country boy at heart. He loved spending time outdoors, laughing and cutting up with his friends, and he loved showing what a good country and western dancer he was to anyone who would watch or dance with him.

Clayton loved so many and was loved by so many more. He had an energy and exhuberance about him that even after just one brief encounter with him you would remember him for life. Clayton’s passing has left a void in so many hearts but we will all take comfort in knowing that the Lord has gained a wonderful blue eyed, strawberry blonde freckle faced angel that we all know will be watching out for us all down here.

Clayton is survived in life by his mother and father Wendy and William (BJ) Roop, his two brothers Brendan and Hayden Roop, grandparents Lonnie and LaVern Sturdy and Eva Roop. Clayton was predeceased in life by his grandfather William (Bill) Roop. Clayton is also survived by his Aunts, Uncles and cousins, Lisa and Dwayne Jones and their daughter Emily, Heidi Roop and her children Freedom and Avery Morland, Kevin Sturdy, his children Breece, Chase and Tobi, Jason and Angie Sturdy, their children Trever, his fiance Sarah, Brittany her daughter Elliana, Katie and Colby, and Kelly and J.R. Barak, their children Audrey and Brady. He also leaves behind many many friends.

Clayton,
You were such a great kid. I loved watching how much you enjoyed being around your friends. They all loved you. Your huge personally and infectious smile made everyone around you smile and want to be your friend. It was a joy and honor being your teacher. I'm happy that you were in my class so I had the opportunity to know you. Rest in peace. Prayers for your family and friends. We will all miss you terribly.

I started Amazon around the same time as Clayton and I know I didn't know him long, but I always had a great time with him and we had fun competing against each other in picking, too. Although he seemed very reserved and serious on the outside, he was one of the most genuinely humble, down-to-earth, chill dudes I've ever met. He through me off guard every time he would call me ma'am even though we're about the same age. I'm grateful to him for inviting me out to play volleyball and essentially getting me out of my comfort zone when it came to meeting new people when he practically introduced all of his friend group all at once, haha! One memory that sticks out for me was when I was out in the parking lot walking to my car to head home, I saw him about to drive off, hopped on the grill of his truck to jokingly stop him, and he paused for a moment and started to drive off at normal speed. I almost lost my grip, told him to stop, hopped off and we both had a big laugh about it. He always loved being playful and fun. I'm gonna miss all the antics we did at work. He was a very caring young man and I know he's in a better place now. I'm gonna miss him.

My "Clayton memory"...I was an assistant coach in T-Ball and Coach Pitch (the Grand Prairie Dodgers), known affectionately to him and the other boys as "Coach Pop." In fact, YEARS later the boys and their parents still address me as "Coach Pop," and I love it. Well, one day between games I'm sitting in my lawn chair up next to the ball park's fence watching some other teams play. Without warning, something warm and soft slips into my lap, all snuggly. It's Clayton! Surprised and delighted me. That was probably 1st grade. How could I not love that boy?

Clayton,

You were truly one of a kind. You lit up every room you walked in with those bright blue eyes and that big smile of yours. You knew exactly how to have a good time and you made sure everybody around you had a good time as well. You were one of my first friends when I moved to Grand Prairie and I thank God for putting you in my life. You were my best friend for over 16 years and that will never change. I’m so grateful to have been given the opportunity to share and make as many memories as we did. I will forever cherish those memories. I’m so thankful for you and how good you were to me. You are someone that nobody could ever forget. You definitely left your mark and impacted so many lives. I can’t imagine life without you. I already miss you so much and love you dearly. I’ll do whatever I can to take care of your family. I could talk about you all day and never get tired of it. Thank you for being you. I love you Clayton Roop. Forever and always. Fly high my sweet angel ❤️

This week I found out the sad news of the passing of my good friend and colleague Clayton Roop....One of the hardest working and noble people I have had the pleasure to work with. He always came in each morning with a great attitude and would always would go out of his way to make sure the job was done right. I'm going to miss your great sense of humor, our long and fun conversations about hunting/guns, and your overall good vibes.....I feel greatful to have seen how much you grew as a fellow associate and person, and I was ready to see the many great things that you more than deserve head your way.

You had the whole world ahead of you, each time we would talk about your plans I always rooted for you because you are a genuine person with a good heart. I'll never forget when you pulled me over to the side in the middle of your work just to say that I was the best supervisor you ever got to work with, I felt and still feel honored to this day. Going to miss you man, you left a huge impact on everyone close to you. I know you're in a better place now. Rest easy brother....

Roop family,
I don’t know where to begin. Clayton was a friend to my son going back to Elementary. It is unimaginable and just no words for the amount of pain I am sure you are experiencing. Prayers to you all during this most difficult time. 🙏🏽🙏🏽♥️💜

Sincerely,

The Lowes
