This is the portrait Diana painted of my daughter, Sarah. All three poses are of Sarah from a different angle. (My son's portrait has been uploaded by someone else.)

Diana Burke

	She was always Dinah to our family, living down the street in Arcadia, La.	Dinah and Terry became good, good friends. The best of friends.
	When our daughter Sarah was born, they became second parents to her. Dinah would stop in and pick Sarah up for a couple of hours so I could rest.
	As she grew, Sarah spent so much time with Dinah. Although Sarah always complained when I brushed the snarls out of her hair, Dinah had a soft touch!  Sarah told the library her name was Sarah Burke. Once after a sleep over, I walked down the street to pick Sarah up. She was having breakfast on a beautiful tray, seated at the open back door letting the sun and the birdsong into the house to accompany the classical music that Dinah had playing.
	She taught both of my children how to tie their shoes. She sat Kenny in front of a mirror to help him say Mrs. Thurmon instead of Mrs. Furmon (his kindergarten teacher). Since I was never a cat person, Sarah kept her many cats at Dinah’s house! Dinah could do anything and everything! Her painting stands out. She painted portraits of both my children. Her paintings rivaled anything hanging in a museum!
	We celebrated many holidays with Dinah and Terry. They were there with every event at our home. They were family.
	Dinah was always there for me, encouraging me and having my back. They both came immediately when my husband died. Dinah spent the night to be close in case I needed comforting during the night. I did, and she was there. At my husband’s memorial service I lie on the floor in my room with my sister holding my head and Dinah rubbing my feet. She was a sister to me.
	We used to sort of joke about putting Terry and Ken in a nursing home and living together. Ken died, then Terry. Life happened and took us to different states. But still, she altered my life. I loved her for her friendship and her impact on my children. What an incredible friend!
