She was born in Poteet, Texas, just south of San Antonio, on Monday, March 20, 1950. Eufemia, well known as "Fannie", graduated from Poteet High School in May 1969. She continued going to school taking a class here and a class there until finally she graduated from the University of North Texas and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies on May 14, 2011, at the ripe young age of 61.
She was married to Isabel Y. Perez, who was best remembered as "Chavelo", for 35 years.
Eufemia had a 42 year long career as an Educator. She joined Dallas ISD back in 1979. She enjoyed her lifetime with the wonderful students of Oak Cliff (32 years at Lida Hooe and 4 years at Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary schools). She finally retired in 2015 but continued in education as a substitute teacher until her passing. If that was not enough, her free time was spent working on taxes for H&R Block during tax season, which she happily did for over 20 years. As a devoted Catholic, she volunteered for 15 plus years as a Sunday school teacher for St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
Alongside her faith, her passion was truly education. She was in love with learning and loved to share her knowledge with anyone who would listen. She loved reading. She had a green thumb for gardening, she loved crocheting, needle pointing and sewing. She loved creating gifts for her children, grandchildren, students, family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Adelita Gonzales Sosa husband Ricardo Sosa, Juan Pedro Ramirez wife Carrie Ramirez, Hope Elizabeth Alvarado husband Robert Alvarado Jr., Joel Isabel Perez, Fernando Perez wife Pat Perez, and Vincent Perez wife Lucy Perez. She is also survived by her Grandchildren, Monica Saucedo, Veronica Saucedo, Joseph Saucedo, Juan Javier Ramirez, Maia Gabrielle Sosa, Vincent Perez Jr. Chris Anthony Alvarado, Alondra Estefania Ramirez, Emma Luka Sosa, Matthew Isaiah Alvarado, Aubriana Victoria Ramirez, Juan Nito Ramirez, Joel Andres Ramirez, and Jeremiah Ignacio Ramirez. Eufemia will be missed by a host of family and friends. She will also be forever remembered through the hearts of the many children she taught throughout her lifetime as well as all the friends and educators that she worked alongside.
