Gene grew up in Big Lake, Texas where he attended high school. The family then moved to Midland, Texas. Gene spent the early part of his adult life in West Texas where he started his family and had 4 children. In 1980 he met Juanita at a dance at Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas, Texas and the two were married December 12, 1981.
They settled in Grand Prairie in 2009. Curtis enjoyed tinkering with everything he could get his hands on. He could build or fix anything including infinity mirrors. Throughout his career he built several nursing homes and did the glass work on many of the high rises in Dallas. Gene liked to dance, visit Las Vegas and Shreveport, play cards/games and spending time with his family. He had very in tune fatherly instincts, was always the life of the party and center of attention in any group. A serious man, he was intense in all he did. As a father he was hard but fair and loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gene did have a jokester side. He was good at telling jokes and a quick wit. He also stuck to the promises he made, often commenting “if I tell you something you can take it to the bank.”
Gene is preceded in death by his father Clifford J Hunsinger, mother Ola G. Winfield Hunsinger and brother Bill Hunsinger.
He is survived by his wife Juanita Sue Hunsinger, children: Delbert L. Hunsinger and his wife, Donna, Doris L. Watson and her husband, Gary, Diana L. Howl, Douglas L. Hunsinger; sister Pauline G. Williams, 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
