Helene Jeannette Wilson

Helene J. Wilson of Grand Prairie left her earthly journey on February 29, 2024

Born in Arlington, TX to Oscar S Wilson Jr and Roberta J Forney. She was raised in Grand Prairie along with her 5 siblings.

Helene did not have a conventional life. She did not marry and have children and she did not have a long working career. What she did have was a very unique perspective of life and an older sister, Sharon, who helped her enjoy the special life she was given. Helene never met a stranger and was fiercely loyal to her family and friends. Her relationship with her sister, Sharon was very special and they took care of each other with the help of their older brother Kenneth for 40 years. They were very adventurous and took advantage of every opportunity they could to go somewhere or learn something new. For those who knew them, they would sign their communications: from, Two Sisters and a Dog.

Helene would always say she was an artist, singer, and a writer but more importantly, she was a child of God. Helene was very religious, and leaned heavily on her religion throughout her cancer journey. She never gave up her belief in God and all he had and would do for her.

A very special thank you to Helene’s longtime Episcopal priest friend, the Rev. Karen Barfield for the countless hours she spent with Helene as a friend while providing pastoral care throughout her cancer journey. A special thanks also for Nori Slater-Love for welcoming Helene’s friendship and providing endless support after they connected through the online chemo buddy communities Helene was a part of.

Helene’s family would like to thank Care of Excellence Home Health and Texas Life Hospice Services for helping with her care at the end of her cancer journey.

Helene is preceded in death by her mother Roberta J Wilson; sister Sharon A Wilson; grandparents Oscar and Ruth Wilson and Harry and Roberta Forney.

Survivors: father Oscar S Wilson Jr; sister and brother-in-law Doris and Bobby Richardson; brother Kenneth Wilson; sister Madeline Wilson; brother and sister-in-law Mark and Diana Wilson; nephews Christopher Richardson and partner Alyssa Adams, Stephen and wife Sarah Richardson, Nathan and wife Kirstie Wilson; niece Morgan Wilson; great nieces Mykala Carlson-Richardson; Sadie Wilson, Rylie Wilson, Allie Richardson and Chelsea Adams-Richardson; great nephew William Richardson

A visitation for Helene will be held Monday, March 4, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 11:30 AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 8230 Jack Finney Blvd, Greenville, TX 75402. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Sunny Point Cemetery, 1586 Co Rd 4133, Cumby, TX 75433.
