J.C. Hale

J.C. left high school in Mead, Ok to get married. He married Ovella on December 25, 1936. In the early 1940's they settled in Grand Prairie, Texas so J.C. could work at North American, commonly known as Vought. In 1945 he was drafted into the US Army. He served 4 months before being honorably discharged. While in the service he was a rifle sharpshooter, received his GED and the World War II Victory Medal.

J.C. was a kind and loving man who was easy to get along with. He dedicated his life to God, his family and helping others. J.C. sang and played guitar in the Sunshine Band, who would play for nursing homes. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels, was the music director at several small churches in Grand Prairie. He was the kind of man who would lay down his life for a perfect stranger. He ever spoke an ill word about anyone and was extremely generous.

He was a resident of Grand Prairie, Texas for over 70 years. A member of Calvary Baptist Church and UAW the plant union at Vought. J.C. was extremely dedicated to his family. Taking care of his late wife and staying positive while she battled with Alzheimer and making sure he was always there for his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family. However, his biggest passion was his faith. He carried 2 Bibles no matter where he went and read the word of God everyday.

J.C. is preceded in death by his mother Gussy Taylor Hale, father Orbin Hale, brother M.D. Hale, 1st wife Ovella Hale, 2nd wife Jeannetta Hale, granddaughter Ilona DeAnn Lawson and great-grandson Brandon Eastham.

He is survived by his children: Doris Lawson and husband, Earl, Gene Hale and wife, Pat; grandchildren: Melanie Eastham and husband, Jeff, Laura Davis and husband, Jeff, Aryn Hale and wife, Delia, Jevette Dansby and husband, Craig, Randy Lawson and wife, Tanya, Colette Dewitt and husband, Marc; 15 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, siblings: Nadine Calhoune and husband, Jerry, Bobbi VanNam, Trula Pennington, Reba Mangum, Retha Dokupil, Mildred Hastings, Loretta Cook and Jimmy Hale and wife, Norma.
