

Irma Jean Hart passed away December 6, 2013. She was born November 30, 1930 in Covington, KY to Wade and Curtis Carter. Jean grew up in Ft. Worth, TX. In 1952 she graduated from North Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree. While attending college she met her husband Sealy Hart Jr. They were married June 14, 1952 and moved to Grand Prairie, TX to start their family. Jean was a mother, grandmother, homemaker, seamstress and teacher. She was also very active in her church, First United Methodist. A member of United Methodist Women and New Life Sunday School, Jean also volunteered at Grand Prairie Food and Clothing Coop. She belonged to The Women’s Club of Grand Prairie and for sixty years she was a member of her bridge club. In her free time Jean enjoyed traveling. It could be anything from going camping to taking a cruise. She had a wonderfully dry sense of humor and was an accomplished quilt maker. She is preceded in death by her parents Wade and Curtis Carter, husband Sealy H. Hart Jr.She is survived by her children, Sealy Hart III and wife Pamela, Carter Hart, Cary Hart, Laura Smith and husband Laird; grandchildren Shannon Hart, Katie Smith, Courtney Smith; brother Robert Carter. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Bean Massey Burge from 6-8pm. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Grand Prairie at 1pm.
