Juana "Janie" Lopez

Juana “Janie” Garza Lopez, beloved matriarch of the Lopez Family, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 83 years old.

Born on March 28, 1941, to Guadalupe Garza and Carlota Dominguez Garza. Janie lived a life of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Throughout her life, Janie, also known to her family as Mama Janie, touched the lives of countless individuals with her boundless compassion, gentle spirit, and infectious laughter. Her presence brought light and joy to all who knew her, leaving an everlasting mark on their hearts.

Janie was the cherished spouse of Marcos Ruiz Lopez, with whom she shared 60 years of love, laughter, and companionship with before Marcos entered eternal life in January 2019. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories and enduring love.

As a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Janie leaves behind a legacy of love and family unity. She will be deeply missed by her children Josephine Lopez White and Marcos Lopez Jr.; Son in law, Patricio Ceniceros; her grandchildren Jaymee Lopez, Christofer Lopez, Jaclyn White, Nicholas Lopez; and her great-grandchildren Jaslene Arreola, Gionna Arreola, Lilly Lopez, and Juliet Arreola.

Janie was known for her culinary talents, creating delicious meals that brought family and friends together. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and comfort, where she shared her love through food and fellowship. In addition to her great cooking, Janie enjoyed showering those she loved with handmade crotchet Afghans, hats, and scarves.

Janie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marcos Ruiz Lopez, Daughter, Vivian Garza Lopez, her parents, Guadalupe Garza and Carlota Dominguez Garza and siblings, Roberto Garza and Angelica Martinez. She is survived by her loving family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.

A visitation for Janie will be held Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050. A celebration of Janie's life will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and she will be laid to rest at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens at 1:00 PM.

Though Janie may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal love of those who went before her.
