Judy Newsome passed away on February 16th after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by grandparents Oatha Lee and Dorothy Mae Garner; and mother Norma Lee Nesbitt; and stepfather John R Nesbitt. She is survived by husband Clay Dolan Newsome, sister Debra Nesbitt, children Randy Allen Carlisle, Tonya Joy Carlisle, and Steven Ray Carlisle; grandchildren Darci Marie Branche, Shannon Rochelle Carlisle, Christopher Scott Hindman, and Melody Kay Carlisle; and six great grandchildren, Alysa Guzman, Ollie Branche III (Lil’ O), Alexiah Maldonado, Elijah Carlisle, Camron Branche, & Aurora Dominguez. A native and continuous Texan, Judy was born in Sherman, grew up in Waco, Galveston, and Oak Cliff, and lived from early adulthood throughout the rest of her life in the Dallas area. Her last occupation prior to retirement was charter bus management. Though she worked in that field for many years and had a number of other diverse jobs prior to that, Judy's primary devotion and consuming passion was for her family. She was the sun around which her husband, children, and grandchildren orbited, and she was a source of unwavering support to her parents and grandparents during their lives. Judy was also known by all to have a huge heart for animals. She was "mom" to dogs, cats, and birds, among other creatures great and small. In addition to her own household menagerie, she fed and sheltered her neighborhood's free roaming cats and provided support to several animal welfare organizations. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Judy's memory do so with donation to either Best Friends Animal Society (bestfriends.org) or Vitas Hospice Care (vitas.com).
