June Willis was born June 18, 1937 in East Point, Louisiana to Sammie and Willie Mae Willis.
"and a time to plant,"
As a young man, his parents moved to Dallas, Texas where he attended and later graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. In 1956 he entered the United States Marine Corp where he was honorably discharged after two years.
"and the Lord God said, it is not good that man should be alone...,"
On December 16, 1961, June Willis and Maggie E. Childs were united in holy matrimony.
"God said unto them, be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth...,"
To this union four children were born, Shelia, Tonja, Gregory, and Gwendolyn and five grandchildren, Gabrielle, Riley, Brittney, Zachary and Xavier.
"a time to love,"
His life exemplified one of the greatest commandments - love. He loved God and recently rededicated his life to Christ. He loved his family, friends and sports.
"a time to die,"
June departed life on Saturday, September 29, 2012 after a long battle with cancer - his loving wife and family by his side.
"and a time of peace,"
June Willis is now at peace, resting in the redemptive love of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Survivors to Cherish His Memory
He is survived by his wife, Maggie Willis; his four children, Shelia Garrett, Tonja (Kelvin) Armstrong, Gregory (Angela) Willis, and Gwendolyn Fountain (Anthony); grandchildren, Gabrielle, Riley, Brittney, Zachary and Xavier; mother, Willie Mae Willis; brothers, Winfred, Charles (Evelyn), Albert (Donnetta) and Freddy Joe and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
