Kaitun Chin passed away on June 24, 2013 in Dallas. "Bob", as he was fondly known to family and friends, was born on August 5, 1935 to YinWon Chin and PingGim Wong in Canton, China. Bob moved to the United States at the age of 9 and grew up in NYC's Chinatown before attending the Aerospace Institute in Chicago, IL where he obtained a BS in Aeronautical Engineering. Bob served proudly in the US Army during the Cold War, and was based in Germany. He returned to the US and worked for a number of top aerospace companies including Martin Marietta Corporation, McDonnell Douglas, GE, and Singer (Link Division). He then joined the US Department of Defense in 1979 to oversee space and missiles programs in the Dallas field office. He worked for the DoD until his retirement in 2003.
In 1967, Bob met the love of his life, Tina, and they married in 1968. They raised two daughters, Julie and Jeannie, as well as some odd number of chickens and ducks, a rabbit, a dog, and some fish. Bob was the definition of a family man: generous, loving, caring, protective, and supportive. He put his family above all else, and nothing gave him greater pleasure than to make his wife Tina happy. After retiring together in 2003, Bob and Tina had a number of adventures traveling around the US and the world. Bob was an avid gym-goer and was very proud to be able to often bench press more weight than "those young punks". Bob and Tina were active in their church, and also volunteered for the Southwest Transplant Alliance and the DFW Airport Ambassadors Program. Bob was always passionate about helping people, and he would have been especially proud that as an organ donor, he was able to save a life even in his own passing.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kaifoo, and sister Waigin. He is survived by his wife Tina, daughters Julie and Jeannie, son-in-law Javier, and sister Waifong.
As Bob would have wanted, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Arlington Chinese Church (please make checks payable to ACC, and mail to the care of Tina Chin, 630 Wilson Ct, Duncanville, TX 75137).
