Laquita Baker was called Home to be with God on Tuesday December 21, 2021. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Jerry Baker of Grand Prairie, Texas. Laquita has four daughters who rise up and call her “Blessed”. They are MarChessa Taylor of Denison, LaVera Graves of Grapevine, Gina Pearson of Frisco, and Lisa Esquivel of Wylie.
Laquita passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her adoring family: Husband Jerry, four daughters, three sons in law, twelve grandchildren including spouses, and eleven great grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Jeremy and April Kaps, Shannon Johnson, Marisa and Stuart Simmons, Dusttin and Hannah Pearson, Brittney and Colin Wright, Kaley McGill, Weston Christian, and Abby Esquivel.
Laquita was born on June 2, 1938 to Opal Whitlock and William Monroe Tillman Burt. She had a twin brother Charles, sister Jackie, and brothers John, Donnie, and Oran.
Laquita was a kind, compassionate, generous Soul. She loved the Lord and was a faithful servant to Him. Some of her fondest memories were teaching babies about God in her Cradle Roll class at Church.
We will miss our dear Mother, Wife, Nanny, and friend. We know she is happy and rejoicing in her beautiful Heavenly Home. We will see her again.
Laquita and Jerry loved to read the Bible. They had just finished reading the entire Bible through for the fourth time. This scripture from Proverbs 31 describes who our Beloved Mother was to us.
A virtuous woman is worth more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her.
She is clothed with strength and dignity,
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful
Instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household…
Her children arise and call her Blessed,
Her husband also, and he praises her.
“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
A graveside service for Laquita will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens, 3001 S Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, Texas 75052.
