born April 14, 1917, in Central Texas and died September 10, 2014, in Krum, TX.
Lavetta was raised on a farm near Killeen, Texas, by her parents Henry Lively and Queen Victoria (Bailey) Huggins. She had an older brother Henry Huggins who was married to Opal and later Maggie; and she had a younger sister Nadine Orrick, who was married to Dick. Lavetta graduated college from Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, TX at the age of 21. She began her teaching career in the Valley of Texas.
She met and married Charley Kimbark in 1943 while she was working at Camp Hood (now Ft. Hood), Killeen, TX, and he was serving in the Army.
Karol Kay was their first and Charlsa their second daughter. They lived in Grand Prairie from 1946. Lavetta continued her thirty year teaching career in Grand Prairie, most of it at Austin School teaching 1st grade. She retired in 1977. She stayed very active in the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, etc. until May, 2013, with volunteering driving for the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels, the Grand Prairie Hospital, First Baptist Church food pantry, teaching her Sunday School Class (Esther) at FBC, playing piano for her Sunday School Department FBC, and singing with the FBC Serendipity Choir.
She spent many hours playing Bridge including Monday Bridge, Tuesday afternoon Bridge, Wednesday afternoon Bridge, Thursday afternoon Bridge, and Friday Bridge groups, where she made many wonderful friends.
Lavetta also continued to have many family holiday and birthday meal celebrations at her home in Grand Prairie after Charley died in 1981. Her family had grown from two daughters to:
Karol King’s family:
Allison & Burkhard Saur, daughters, Nalin, Quinn, & Carleigh, of Colleyville, TX
Gavan & Jena Aldridge, son Ben of El Cajon, CA
Jason & Jessily King, son Eulan of Denton, TX
and
Charlsa Northcutt’s family:
Wayne Northcutt, husband of 45 years
Anise & Matthew Mulkey, son Charlie Bruce, daughters Harper & Sawyer Mulkey of Ponder, TX
Tracy & Tim Zimmerman, daughter Hanna of Dish, TX
Cecil Wayne Northcutt, III “Trey” of Ponder, TX and fiancée Jacqueline
She also has a niece Diana Stewart, husband Tom of Jacksonville, FL and nephew Larry Orrick and wife Linda of Port O’Connor, TX, as well as friend Roger King of Fort Worth, TX.
Lavetta was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother and wives, sister and husband and a number of her friends.
She lived an exceptionally full life. During her teaching years, she played golf every summer with daughters in tow. She also taught her grandchildren how to play golf. During her retirement years she volunteered as well as became proficient at Bridge. In all the years she taught Sunday School, she worked very hard at learning and understanding the Bible.
Lavetta was in excellent health all her life until 2013, and was proud of how few pills she had to take.
I’m sure Lavetta is thrilled to be reunited with her heavenly family and friends and is giving the Lord God a run for His money in Heaven.
